What is Claude Desktop App?#
Claude Desktop App is a conversational AI application from Anthropic, available at claude.ai or as a desktop application. It works as a smart conversation partner - you ask a question, you get an answer. Attach a document and ask for a summary. Ask for advice, an idea or a draft text. Everything happens as a conversation between you and the artificial intelligence.

What is Claude Code?#
Claude Code is an AI assistant from Anthropic that, instead of answering questions, carries out tasks on its own. It accesses your files, reads documents, writes on your behalf and manages business processes according to the rules you set - without you having to guide it manually at every step.
Put simply: Claude Code is like an extremely capable assistant who you tell what you need - and it gets it done by itself.

When to use Claude Desktop App#
Claude Desktop App is an excellent choice for tasks you carry out occasionally and that don't require automation.
1. You need a quick answer to a question
A client asks you something you don't know. You open Claude Desktop App, ask the question, and get an answer in 30 seconds. Faster than searching Google, more reliable than asking colleagues.
2. You need a draft text
You have to write an email to a client but can't find the right words. You describe the situation to Claude, and it suggests wording. You revise and send.
3. You need help thinking
You're preparing for a meeting and need ideas for handling a difficult client. Or you're thinking about a new service and want to check whether it makes sense. Claude Desktop App works as a smart sounding board that helps you think.
4. You need a document summary
You get a long contract or report. You attach it to Claude and ask: "Summarise the main points in 5 bullets." In a minute you have a summary instead of half an hour of reading.

When to use Claude Code#
Claude Code is the right choice when you have tasks that repeat every day or every week - and you want to automate them.
1. Daily email processing
